Every year on October 31 we celebrate Halloween which is the most fun holiday in the year. But long time ago it was a scary event and the Halloween costumes are reminders of these horror nights.
According to the mystery legend, all the psychic spirits of the people who died last year will come back to the living world on October 31. The Idea is that they will possess our bodies and in this way they will be able to live forever and throw our souls to hell. Halloween is like a gate between our world and the dead world which is opened for short time only. This is very freighting thought: a ghost will take over your body at night, and of course the ancient people wanted to live and prevent this horror.
The only way to prevent this chaos was to hide, so they turned off their lights and torches at home, now when the ghosts are marching in the streets at the horror nights they will not come close to the houses. But this was not enough because as you might very well know they have psychic powers and can detect humans from miles away. Another safety step was to masquerade to a spooky dead man or spirit so if they encounter a ghost it will think that the human is also a ghost. And this is how the Halloween costumes tradition has begun.
Halloween costume ideas – Basically you can buy or make any outfit and decorations you desire, but if you would like to follow the history of this mystery holiday than you rather find a very frighten look because you can never know when a real spirit will come to hunt you! The most common Halloween costume ideas are vampires, zombies, ghosts, witches, Dracula, dark angels and etc. but in the recent years people also choosing to look like batman, aliens, robots and other modern figures. So if you would like to really feel and celebrate this ritual as it was hundred years ago, then go for the scary and simple costumes which are the most authentic to the ancient rituals. Supernatural powers in costumes are also a great way to connect with your primal believes on that special date. Many witch crafts ceremonies were taking places at this night. For example a girl who wanted to know to whom she will be married, needed to enter to a dark room and gaze at a mirror for few minutes and than she would see the spirit of her future husband. The spirits can show us the future especially when we play with darkness and light. But it is the in-between that counts the most and this can happen only at the magical time of Halloween night. Jack-o-lantern or the orange pumpkin craving is also a good example of dark spirit that is being locked inside a box.
